The obligations that arrived in August 2026 are about conformity, not design: substances of concern, PFAS restrictions in food-contact packaging, technical documentation, identification on the packaging itself. The design requirements land on 1 January 2030, and they are the ones that change what your packaging has to be.
Three and a bit years sounds comfortable. A packaging redesign takes twelve to eighteen months from decision to first shipment, and a portfolio of any size cannot be redesigned at once. Working backwards from 2030, an item that will not reach grade C or the recycled content minimum needs a decision in 2027 and a launch by 2029. That is now.

What we do not do
We do not run laboratory testing, produce recyclability certificates or generate recycled content figures. Those come from your suppliers and from accredited testing bodies. What we do is establish what the regulation requires of each item, tell you what evidence you need to hold, review what your suppliers give you, and say whether it is sufficient.
Roughly thirty delegated and implementing acts are expected to fill in the technical detail behind these requirements, and most have not yet been adopted. Grades assessed today are provisional. That is a reason to start, not to wait: the deadlines do not move because the secondary legislation is late.
What the fee covers. One review of the portfolio as you present it and one written action list, with one round of follow-up questions. Re-review after redesign, assessment of packaging added later, supplier correspondence and verification work are charged on a time basis.
